This workshop will offer guidance for all involved in laboratory animal research, including IACUC administrators, PIs, veterinarians, compliance staff, and all IACUC members, including non-affiliated members. All participants will be able to freely discuss issues of common concern, hear from experienced colleagues, and help in the development of guidance to assist institutions of all sizes advance animal welfare and promote research. The Workshop will feature opportunities for all participants to work collaboratively to review scenarios that may be encountered by a research facility’s IACUC.
The full agenda will be released shortly and will include facilitated discussions and presentations. The featured session will include multiple case studies to be examined for animal welfare and compliance concerns by small groups followed by an open discussion to address how to appropriately review the issue in the IACUC, reporting to regulatory agencies and follow-up, and changes needed to improve animal welfare and institutional compliance. Participants will also be provided with opportunities to review other topics of interest and to solicit comments from colleagues from other institutions.
This workshop includes coffee and tea during the morning and a boxed lunch.
