Vivarium Assistant II
Responsible for the daily husbandry, veterinary care, protocol technical support, and record keeping of live laboratory rodents (mice / rabbits).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Typically performs husbandry tasks such as the changing and cleaning of animal cages, feeding/watering of animals, and the sanitation of the animal facility. May provide veterinary care and protocol technical support responsibilities: including blood collection, injections, ear tagging, breeder colony management, veterinary directed medications, and post-surgical support. Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of documentation such as animal cage cards, duty log sheets, animal computer database, and sanitation logs. Typically has unit-specific duties within the scope of the job. Routine exposure to biological substances, requiring personal protective gear. Operational flexibility is required to meet sudden, unpredictable business needs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent and at least one year of relevant experience. Proficiency in the use of Office automation software (MS Office) and Database applications. ALAT certification preferred.
